TERMS OF SERVICE

The short version, kept short.

EFFECTIVE 14 AUGUST 2026 · PLAIN ENGLISH

These terms cover the PLAYBONES apps and this website. PLAYBONES is a one-person studio, so "we" is really "I". Using an app means you're okay with what's below; if you're not, the fix is not to use it.

Using the apps

You get a personal, non-transferable license to use the apps on the devices tied to your Apple account, for as long as they're available on the App Store. You may not resell them, decompile them, or pass off their code or artwork as your own.

Purchases

Any purchases happen through Apple, under Apple's terms. Prices can change, and a paid feature today may be bundled or free tomorrow — that isn't a refundable event. For refunds, use reportaproblem.apple.com; tell me why as well, because it's genuinely useful.

Subscriptions

Most PLAYBONES apps are a one-time purchase. Skein is the exception: it offers an auto-renewing subscription — an annual plan, or a discounted annual plan for verified students — alongside a one-time Lifetime purchase that never renews. If your plan includes a free trial, it turns into a paid subscription when the trial ends unless you cancel first. A subscription renews automatically at the then-current price and is billed to your Apple account until you cancel; you can manage or cancel anytime in your Apple ID subscription settings, at least 24 hours before a period ends. Deleting the app does not cancel a subscription. Apple handles all billing, renewals and refunds under their terms.

Online play

Bones' online matches and private tables depend on a service I run. It's offered as-is, may go down for maintenance, and is meant for fair play. Cheating, abusing other players through a display name, or trying to disrupt the service can get a match token or profile removed without notice.

Your content

The data you enter — game history, the fill-ups and services you log in Lume, the display name you choose — is yours. I don't claim ownership of it and, as the privacy pages spell out, I mostly never see it.

Ownership

The PLAYBONES apps, the PLAYBONES name and mark, and the apps' code, artwork and copy are owned by PLAYBONES LLC and protected by copyright and trademark. Your license to use the apps doesn't transfer any of that.

Lume is guidance, not advice

Lume's cost-per-mile, toll totals and service reminders are estimates built from what you log. They're there to inform a glance, not to serve as financial, tax, or vehicle-safety advice. Always defer to your manufacturer's service schedule and your own records.

Don't use it while driving

Lume's CarPlay and widget views are built for a two-second glance and nothing more. Never interact with the phone app while driving. You're responsible for following the road laws where you are.

Warranty & liability

The apps are provided "as is". I work hard to get things right — scoring especially — but I can't promise they'll be error-free or uninterrupted. To the extent the law allows, PLAYBONES isn't liable for indirect or incidental losses arising from using the apps, and any liability is limited to what you paid for the app in question.

Changes & ending

These terms can change; the effective date above changes with them, and material changes get a note in the app's release notes. You can stop using the apps any time by deleting them. I can discontinue an app or its online service, though I'll give notice on this site where I reasonably can.
