I started PLAYBONES because the two apps I wanted didn't exist in a form I could live with. Every All Fives dominoes app I tried scored the game wrong, or buried it under ads. Every car-cost tracker wanted me to open an app and read a chart when all I needed was one number.
So the studio is small on purpose. I design, build and support each app myself, which means I can only ship things I'm willing to maintain for years — and it means when you email support, you're emailing me.
The name is a joke I kept: a play button that's also a bone. Games and utilities, same skeleton.
A game app that scores its own game wrong is broken software, however nice it looks. Correctness first, then polish.
Most utility apps are used for two seconds. Design for the widget, the lock screen and the dashboard before the app.
No ad SDKs, no analytics dragnet, no account for features that work fine without one.
